Gifts Not Appearing on Storefront
Symptom-based troubleshooting: work through the exact issue you're seeing.
Nothing shows at all → check the app embed
If no bar, widget, or gift appears anywhere, the app embed is almost certainly off. The Dashboard banner will read that customers "won't see or receive any gifts on your store."
- Dashboard → Activate app embed.
- Toggle Ego Free Gift on in the Theme Editor's App embeds panel.
- Save. Re-check after publishing any new theme — the embed is per-theme.
Bar shows but no gift is added → check the campaign conditions
Open the campaign and verify, in order:
- Status is Active (not Draft), start date has passed, end date hasn't.
- The cart truly meets the condition — right products (check the applies to targeting: a $100 cart of excluded products won't qualify), full threshold amount, correct quantity.
- Sub-conditions aren't excluding you: "New customer" excludes you as a repeat buyer; "Logged out" excludes you while logged in; a Specific link address campaign only fires when you arrive via that link. Test in an incognito window to simulate a fresh visitor.
Gift added but not discounted → check the discount
If the gift lands in the cart at full price:
- In the campaign's gift settings, confirm the discount is set (e.g. Percentage = 100).
- In Shopify admin → Discounts, confirm the automatic discount Ego Free Gift Discount exists and is active — don't delete or edit it manually; the app manages it.
- If it's missing, re-save the campaign to recreate it, or contact support.
A specific surface is missing → check display settings
Each surface has its own switch in Step 2:
- Product page widget not showing → its theme block must be added once ("please add the card block on your theme") — the editor links to the right spot in the Theme Editor.
- Cart widget in the wrong place → add the Ego Cart Block to the cart template and position it (see Cart & Theme Integration).
- Announcement bar missing on mobile → check its device setting (it can be desktop-only).
Campaign never fires → check priority conflicts
If another campaign has Stop on Match and matches the cart first (lower priority number), your campaign is skipped by design. Review priorities under "Works with other offers" and either re-order them or remove Stop on Match from the blocking campaign.
