Pricing Plan

Explore Ego Mobile App Builder pricing plans, features, publishing options, billing, free trials, and plan changes.

Overview

Ego Mobile Builder offers two types of plans:

  • Free plan: build and preview your mobile app at no cost. Publishing is not available on this plan.

  • Paid plans (Growth, Scale, Enterprise): publish your app to the App Store and Google Play, with more features and higher limits on each higher plan.

All prices are in USD and billed through Shopify. See Compare Plans below for prices and plan details.

Important: You cannot publish or keep a published mobile app active on the Free plan.

Which Plan Should I Choose?

Choose Free if you are still designing and previewing your app and are not ready to publish.

Choose Growth if you want to publish your app but only need essential design, notification, segmentation, analytics, and integration features.

For most merchants that plan to actively use their mobile app as a sales and marketing channel, we recommend Scale. In particular, choose Scale if you need features such as scheduled push notifications, advanced automation, up to 10 languages, 50 customer segments, multi-level navigation, or advanced conversion and retention analytics.

Choose Enterprise when you need higher limits, theme customization requests, dedicated services, or the Enterprise-only Smile.io and Gorgias integrations.

Pricing and Billing

How are Ego charges billed?

Ego Mobile Builder subscription charges are processed through Shopify Billing and appear on your Shopify bill.

You can review app charges from:

Shopify Admin → Settings → Billing

Shopify app subscriptions use their own 30-day billing cycle, which might not start on the same date as your Shopify subscription cycle.

Is there a free trial?

Growth, Scale, and Enterprise currently include a 14-day free trial.

If you have completed your app submission and your app is still waiting for approval from Apple or Google when your trial is close to ending, contact Ego Support.

Are there any hidden fees?

Ego does not charge a success fee or take a percentage of your mobile app revenue.

However, some external services can have separate charges.

If you publish using your own developer accounts, the current standard developer fees are:

  • Apple Developer Program — $99 USD/year

  • Google Play developer registration — $25 USD one-time

Apple and Google charge these fees directly.

Ego also supports publishing through an Ego-managed developer account on paid plans, so having your own developer account is not required for every submission.

Third-party apps such as loyalty, helpdesk, review, or marketing services can also require separate subscriptions from their respective providers.

Upgrading Your Plan

You can upgrade your plan from the Pricing page whenever you need additional features or higher limits.

For example:

Free → Growth
Publish your app and start using paid features.

Growth → Scale
Unlock advanced navigation, scheduled push notifications, 9 notification automations, 50 segments, 10 languages, and advanced analytics.

Scale → Enterprise
Unlock higher limits, additional customization and Enterprise-only integrations.

When upgrading between paid plans during an active billing cycle, Shopify normally prorates the price difference based on the remaining days in your billing cycle.

Changing your Ego subscription plan alone does not require you to create a new mobile app.

Downgrading Your Plan

Before downgrading, review the features and limits included in the new plan.

Ego shows the affected features in the downgrade confirmation so you can understand what will change before proceeding.

Downgrading to a lower paid plan

If you move from a higher paid plan to a lower paid plan—for example, Scale → Growth—your mobile app remains active.

However, features that are not supported by the new plan will no longer be available.

This applies to both:

  • Ego Mobile Builder: unsupported settings and features are hidden or disabled.

  • Your mobile app: features that require the previous plan are hidden or unavailable to customers.

For example, when moving from Scale to Growth, you can lose access to Scale-only features such as scheduled notifications, advanced navigation, advanced segmentation, higher language limits, and advanced analytics.

Before confirming the downgrade, review any active languages, scheduled notifications, segments, designs, or integrations that exceed the limits of the new plan.

For paid-plan downgrades, Shopify can issue a prorated application credit based on the price difference and the unused portion of the current billing cycle. This is a Shopify app credit rather than an automatic cash refund.

Downgrading to Free

Downgrading to Free has a larger impact because Free does not support a live published mobile app.

If your mobile app has already been successfully published to the App Store or Google Play, downgrading to Free will deactivate the mobile app.

This means customers can no longer use the published mobile app experience while your store remains on the Free plan.

Your app configuration remains in Ego Mobile Builder, so you don't need to rebuild your app from scratch.

To reactivate your mobile app, subscribe to a paid plan again.

Downgrading to Free is different from uninstalling Ego Mobile Builder. Your configuration remains associated with your account while you continue using Ego on the Free plan.

Reinstall and restore before data removal

When an app is uninstalled, Shopify automatically cancels its recurring app subscription. Shopify also sends its mandatory shop-data redaction request 48 hours after uninstall, so Ego cannot guarantee preservation of your app configuration after that period.

If you plan to use your mobile app again, downgrading is therefore different from uninstalling the Shopify app.

Payment Issues

If Shopify cannot successfully collect your bill, your Shopify account or related app access can be affected according to Shopify's billing status.

Check:

Shopify Admin → Settings → Billing

to review outstanding or failed charges.

If your Ego plan does not return to the expected status after the Shopify billing issue has been resolved, contact Ego Support. Shopify notes that unpaid bills can cause a store to become frozen until payment is restored.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I change my plan?

Go to Ego Mobile Builder → Pricing, choose the plan you want, and confirm the subscription change through Shopify.

Are there any hidden fees?

Ego Mobile Builder does not charge success fees, revenue-share fees, or per-order usage fees.

Developer account fees and subscriptions for third-party services are separate and are charged directly by those providers.

Can I publish my app on the Free plan?

No.

The Free plan is designed for building and previewing your mobile app.

To publish your app to the App Store or Google Play, upgrade to Growth, Scale, or Enterprise.

Do I need to submit my app again when I upgrade?

No. Upgrading your subscription alone does not require a new App Store or Google Play submission.

Some future changes to your mobile app may still require a new store version depending on the type of change.

Will my live app stop working if I move between paid plans?

Your app remains active, but features that are not available on the new plan are hidden or disabled.

What happens if I move to Free?

If your app is already published, it will be deactivated until you subscribe to a paid plan again. Your Ego app configuration remains available.
