Widget Not Showing on Product Pages

Work through the causes in order — from most to least common.

1. App embed and app block enabled?

Check the two Dashboard banners first:

  • App embed inactive → click Activate app embed, toggle Ego Subscriptions on in the Theme Editor's App embeds panel, save.
  • App block missing → click Add app block and place the block in your product template, save.

Recently published a new theme? Both must be re-enabled on the new theme — this is the most common cause of a widget that "suddenly disappeared".

2. Is the product actually in an active plan?

In Subscription plans, open your plan and verify:

  • Status is Active, not Draft.
  • The product you're testing is among the selected products — or its collection is among the selected collections. Watch out: a product recently removed from the collection silently drops out of the plan.

The widget only renders on products that belong to at least one active plan.

3. Widget settings

Under Widgets, confirm:

  • Show subscription widget on product pages is enabled (the master switch).
  • At least one layout is active.
  • If the variant you're viewing is sold out: Show widget on sold out variants is on, or switch to an in-stock variant.

4. Payment gateway supports subscriptions?

Shopify hides subscription options entirely when the store's payment setup doesn't support recurring billing. Check Shopify admin → Settings → Payments: you need Shopify Payments (or another subscription-compatible gateway). This is often the culprit on brand-new stores and development stores.

Widget shows but looks broken?

If the widget renders but clashes with your theme (overlapping text, wrong fonts, misplaced position):

  • Move the app block position in the Theme Editor (drag it in the product template).
  • Use Custom CSS in the widget settings for fine adjustments.
  • Or just message us via in-app chat — theme-fit adjustments are free.

Still stuck?

Test in an incognito window (rules out caching), and try another product from the plan. If it still doesn't show, contact us via the in-app chat with your store URL and the product link — we'll diagnose it on your actual theme.
