Create Your First Campaign

A quick walkthrough: Create and launch your first Free Gift or Upsell campaign in a few steps.

Step 1 — Choose a campaign type

From the app dashboard, go to Campaigns and click Create campaign.

The Create campaign picker has three tabs — Free gift, Upsell and Bundle. Choose one of the following categories:

Free Gift

  • Cart Value Gift — Offer a free gift when the cart total reaches a specified value.

  • Cart Quantity Gift — Offer a free gift when customers add a specified number of items to their cart.

  • Buy X Get Y — Reward customers with a selected gift when they purchase specific products or quantities.

  • BOGO — Create Buy One Get One or similar offers, such as Buy 2 Get 1 Free.

  • Reward Bar — Display progress toward one or more rewards based on the customer’s cart value or quantity.

  • Shipping Bar — Shows a progress bar that encourages customers to add more to their cart to unlock a shipping discount or free shipping.

Upsell

Recommend additional products at different stages of the shopping journey.

Each upsell campaign targets one placement:

  1. Product page — below the product details.

  2. Cart page — last chance before checkout.

  3. Pop-up — triggered at key moments, with configurable trigger and frequency.

  4. Checkout page — inside Shopify checkout.

  5. Post-purchase — a one-click offer between payment and the thank-you page; the customer accepts without re-entering payment. Supports a funnel of up to three sequenced offers (first, second, downsell) with a countdown.

  6. Thank-you page — after the order completes.

To show the widget in the Checkout page, you have to be in Shopify Plus.Click the campaign type you want to create to open its editor.

Bundle

Create bundle offers that reward customers with discounts or free items when they buy more or buy products together.

1. Quantity Break — Offer tiered discounts on the same product. The more units a customer buys, the bigger the discount.

2. BXGY Bundle — Create “buy X, get Y” deals on the product page, such as buying a set number of items and getting some free.

3. Volume Discount — Offer tiered discounts based on the total number of items a customer buys across different products.

4. Complete the Bundle. — Sell a fixed combo of products at a discount when customers buy them together.

5. Free Gift & Upsell — Reward customers with a free gift and encourage them to buy more by unlocking extra value as they spend or add more items.

6. Sold out — Notify shoppers when a bundle option is no longer available, and show the best remaining offer instead.

Step 2 — Campaign setting

Complete the required settings based on the selected campaign type.

For Free Gift campaigns

Configure:

  • Campaign name and schedule

  • Qualifying products, collections, cart value, or quantity

  • Gift products and reward conditions

  • Display method and storefront widgets

For Upsell campaigns

Configure:

  • Offer placement and schedule

  • Trigger products or collections

  • Offered products

  • Discount settings

  • Customer-facing content

  • Display behavior and campaign priority

For Bundles

Configure:

  • Bundle name and visibility

  • Bundle offers

  • Eligible bundle products (optional)

  • Variant selection options for bundle products

  • Price display options (e.g., show price per item, use compare-at price)

Step 3 — Activate the campaign

You can switch your campaign between Test mode and Live mode at the top of the page, next to the page title.

  • Active — live on your storefront as soon as you save, within the start and end dates.

  • Test mode (Free Gift campaigns) — only people with the preview link see the offer, so you can try it before shoppers do.

Below it, the Summary card checks off each required step (name, what customers buy, what they get) and recaps how the gift is claimed and where it is promoted.

The campaign will work when:

  • Its status is Active

  • The scheduled start time has been reached

  • Customers meet the configured conditions

  • The selected products are available

You can also start or pause a campaign from the Campaign list using the play/pause icon in the Action column.

Step 4 — Activate and test

Click Save in the top bar once the settings are done.

Then run a test on your storefront:

  • Add products that meet your offer conditions to the cart.

  • Check that your offer shows up and applies the correct discount or gift.

  • Check that every offer exposure shows up correctly (announcement bar, product page widget, promotion badge).

  • Remove items to get below the threshold — if you enabled Works in reverse, the gift disappears.
