Email Notifications
Every email the app can send, when it fires, and how to configure each one.
Turning emails on
Go to Settings → Email settings. A master switch enables subscription emails; below it, each notification type has its own toggle so you control exactly what gets sent. These emails are sent by the app — they complement (not replace) Shopify's own order confirmation emails.
Customer notifications
| When it's sent | Why keep it on | |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription activation | When the customer first subscribes. | Confirms the deal (frequency, discount) and sets expectations. |
| Subscription upcoming order | Before the next charge — 2 days by default, adjustable per contract via Email Buffer Days. | The customer's chance to skip or edit before being billed — the single best defense against refunds and chargebacks. |
| Subscription order confirmation | When a recurring order is placed successfully. | Reassurance + a natural portal entry point. |
| Billing failed | When a charge fails, including a final-attempt warning explaining what happens next. | Contains the payment-update link — this is how failed payments get fixed. |
| Subscription cancellation | When the subscription is cancelled. | Closure + win-back opportunity. |
| Pause / resume confirmations | When the subscription is paused or resumed. | Prevents "am I still being charged?" tickets. |
Store owner notifications
| When it's sent | |
|---|---|
| Out of stock alert | A product in an upcoming subscription order is out of stock — restock or swap the product before the next cycle bills. |
| Charge confirmation | A recurring order was charged successfully. |
| Failed charge notification | A charge could not be processed. |
Minimum recommended set: upcoming order + billing failed for customers, out of stock for you. These three prevent the most revenue loss.
