Checkout Page

Display relevant product recommendations during checkout and encourage customers to add more items before completing their purchase.

What is a Checkout Page Upsell campaign?

A Checkout Page Upsell campaign displays product recommendations directly in the Shopify checkout.

It allows customers to review recommended products, select a variant, and add an item without leaving the checkout process.

Use this campaign to suggest complementary products, practical add-ons, or low-friction impulse purchases at the final stage of the customer journey.

You can control:

  • Which products trigger the campaign.

  • Which products are recommended.

  • Whether an upsell discount is applied.

  • The customer-facing title and sub-title.

  • The display order and number of offered products.

Note: Checkout Page Upsell requires a compatible Shopify checkout customization setup, which is only available for Shopify Plus stores.

Campaign setting

Creating a Checkout Page Upsell campaign consists of four parts:

  • Basic information

  • Offer

  • Content

  • Settings

1. Basic information

Configure the campaign name and schedule.

1.1. Offer name

Enter a name to identify the campaign in the app.

The offer name is used for internal management only and will not be visible to customers.

1.2. Start date and time

Set the date and time when the campaign should begin.

The campaign will become available to eligible customers when the scheduled start time is reached.

1.3. End date and time

Enable Set end date and time when you want the campaign to stop automatically.

This is useful for limited-time promotions, seasonal campaigns, or offers tied to a specific sales period. Leave this option disabled when the campaign should continue running until you manually deactivate it.

2. Offer

Configure the products that trigger the campaign, the products customers receive as recommendations, and any discount applied to them.

2.1. Trigger

Choose which products must be present in the customer’s cart for the upsell offer to appear.

  • All products: The campaign can be triggered by any product added to the cart.

  • Specific products: The campaign appears when the cart contains one or more selected products.

  • Specific collections: The campaign appears when the cart contains a product from one or more selected collections.

Use specific products or collections when the offered products are relevant only to certain purchases.

2.2. Offers

Choose how the products displayed in the upsell widget are selected.

Manual selection

Select the exact products you want to recommend.

Click Browse to search for and add offer products. This option gives you full control over which products customers see.

Basic AI — automated recommendations

Allow the app to automatically recommend relevant products. The data is taken from the app Shopify Search & Discovery.

2.3. Discount

Configure whether customers receive a discount when they add an offered product.

Discount type

Select the type of discount applied to the offer products.

The available configuration are:

  • No discount: Offer products are added at their regular price.

  • Percentage/Fixed amount: Offer products are added with a discount.

When a discount type is selected, enter the corresponding value in the Discount amount field. The amount is based on your store’s currency.

If you configure Fixed amount discount type, there is another option to consider: Apply discount to each eligible item in an order

  • Enabled: Each eligible item receives the full discount amount.

  • Disabled: The configured discount amount is distributed across all eligible items in the order.

Discount code

Enter the name that identifies the upsell discount.

This code will be visible to customers in the cart when the discount is applied. Use a short and understandable name, such as CART OFFER.

3. Content

Customize the customer-facing text displayed in the checkout upsell widget.

3.1. Title

Enter the heading displayed above the recommended products.

This setting overrides the default title configured for the checkout widget.

Examples:

  • Add something extra

  • Recommended for you

3.2. Sub-title

Enter the supporting message displayed below the title.

The sub-title supports the {{discount}} template. When used, the template is automatically replaced with the campaign’s configured discount.

4. Settings

Control campaign priority, product behavior, the number of offers displayed, and the widget position.

4.1. Priority

Enter a priority number to determine the order in which campaigns are evaluated.

Campaigns with lower numbers are evaluated first. For example, a campaign with priority 1 runs before campaigns with priority 2 or 3.

4.2. Allow multiple quantities

Enable this setting to let customers add more than one unit of an offered product.

Leave it disabled when each offered product should be added only once through the upsell widget.

4.3. Don’t show products that are already in the cart

Enable this setting to hide an offered product when the same product is already present in the customer’s cart.

This avoids displaying duplicate recommendations and keeps the offer relevant to the customer’s current order.

4.4. Randomize offer product order

Enable this setting to display offer products in a different order instead of always following the original selection order.

This can give multiple products more balanced visibility when a campaign contains several recommendations.

4.5. Limit offered products shown

Enable this setting to restrict how many offer products are displayed in the widget at one time.

Use it when the campaign contains many products but you want to keep the cart experience focused and easy to browse.

4.6. Paginate products

Enable pagination to divide offered products into multiple pages or groups within the widget. In short, it limits how many products are shown to the customers at one time, in one widget frame.

This option is useful when the campaign includes more products than can comfortably fit in the available cart space.
