Post-purchase Upsell
Display a limited-time offer after checkout and let customers add another product to their existing order without starting a new checkout.
What is a Post-purchase Upsell campaign?
A Post-purchase Upsell campaign displays an additional offer after the customer completes checkout but before they reach the final order confirmation page.
Customers can review the offered product, select a variant, and add it to the existing order with one click. They do not need to re-enter their payment or shipping information.
You can create a sequence that includes:
A First offer shown immediately after checkout.
A Second offer shown after the first offer, depending on the campaign flow.
A Downsell offer shown as an alternative when the customer declines an earlier offer.
This campaign is useful for recommending complementary products, lower-priced alternatives, accessories, or other relevant additions while purchase intent is still high.
You can control:
Which purchased products trigger each offer.
Which product is presented at each stage.
Whether a discount is applied.
The content shown on the offer page.
How the countdown timer behaves.
The order in which multiple campaigns are evaluated.
Campaign setting
Creating a Post-purchase Upsell campaign consists of four parts:
Basic information
Offer
Content
Settings
1. Basic information
Configure the internal campaign name and campaign schedule.
1.1. Offer name
Enter a name to identify the campaign in the app.
The offer name is used for internal management only and will not be visible to customers.
1.2. Start date and time
Set the date and time when the campaign should begin.
The campaign will become available for eligible post-purchase orders when the scheduled start time is reached.
1.3. End date and time
Enable Set end date and time when you want the campaign to stop automatically.
This is useful for limited-time promotions, seasonal campaigns, or offers tied to a specific sales period. Leave this option disabled when the campaign should continue running until you manually deactivate it.

2. Offer
Configure the trigger products, offered products, and discount for each step in the post-purchase sequence.
Use the tabs at the top of the section to switch between:
First offer: The First offer is the initial product recommendation shown after checkout. Use it for the main post-purchase opportunity you want customers to see first.
Second offer: The Second offer is an additional recommendation that can appear after the first offer, depending on the configured offer flow. Use it to present another relevant product after the customer responds to the first offer.
Downsell offer: The Downsell offer is an alternative offer that can be shown when the customer declines an earlier offer.
It is typically used for:
A lower-priced product.
A smaller product version.
A reduced discount.
A simpler accessory or add-on.
The downsell should provide a lower-commitment alternative to the original offer.
Each tab can be configured separately.
2.1. Trigger
Choose which products in the completed order make the selected offer eligible to appear.
All products: The offer can appear after any completed order.
Specific products: The offer appears when the order includes one or more selected products.
Products in specific collections: The offer appears when the order includes a product from one or more selected collections.
Use specific products or collections when the offer is relevant only to certain purchases.
2.2. Offers
Choose how the product displayed in the selected offer step is determined.
- Manual selection
Select the exact product you want to offer.
Click Browse to search for and add a product. This option gives you direct control over the product shown at that stage.
- Basic AI — automated recommendations
Allow the app to automatically choose a relevant product based on the completed order.
Use this option when you want recommendations to be generated automatically instead of assigning products manually.
2.3. Discount
Discount type
Select the type of discount applied to the offer products.
The available configuration are:
No discount: Offer products are added at their regular price.
Percentage/Fixed amount: Offer products are added with a discount.
When a discount type is selected, enter the corresponding value in the Discount amount field. The amount is based on your store’s currency.
If you configure Fixed amount discount type, there is another option to consider: Apply discount to each eligible item in an order
Enabled: Each eligible item receives the full discount amount.
Disabled: The configured discount amount is distributed across all eligible items in the order.
Discount code
Enter the name that identifies the upsell discount.
This code will be visible to customers when the discount is applied. Use a short and understandable name, such as CART OFFER.

3. Content
Customize the text and actions displayed on the post-purchase offer page.
Content can be configured separately for:
First offer
Second offer
Downsell offer
3.1. Header
Title
Enter the main heading displayed above the offer.
Use a clear message that tells customers they can still add the product to their existing order.
The title supports the {{discount}} template. When used, it is replaced with the discount configured for the selected offer.
Sub-title
Enter the supporting message displayed below the title.
Use it to explain that the product can be added quickly without another checkout.
3.2. Button
Pay now button
Enter the label displayed on the primary button customers use to accept the offer.
The product price may be shown automatically alongside the configured text.
Decline button
Enter the label displayed on the secondary button customers use to reject the offer.
When a downsell is configured, declining an earlier offer may take the customer to the downsell instead of ending the offer flow immediately.
3.3. Announcement bar
Use the announcement bar to display urgency or other important information above the product offer.
Announcement
Enter the message shown in the announcement bar.
The field supports the {{timer}} template. Place this template where you want the countdown timer to appear.
Timer (minutes)
Enter how long the countdown should run.
The configured number determines the duration displayed through the {{timer}} template.
When timer runs out
Choose what happens when the countdown reaches zero.
- Restart
Resets the countdown and keeps the offer visible.
Use this when the timer is intended to create urgency without removing the offer.
- Hide offer
Closes the offer when the timer expires.
This has the same effect as the customer declining the offer.
- Show downsell
Skips to the configured Downsell offer when the timer expires.
Use this to automatically present a lower-commitment alternative after the customer does not accept the initial offer in time.
This option requires a Downsell offer to be configured.
- Do nothing
Hides the countdown but keeps the current offer visible.
Customers can still accept or decline the offer after the timer disappears.

4. Settings
Control campaign priority, product behavior, the number of offers displayed, and the widget position.
4.1. Priority
Enter a priority number to determine the order in which campaigns are evaluated.
Campaigns with lower numbers are evaluated first. For example, a campaign with priority 1 runs before campaigns with priority 2 or 3.
4.2. Allow multiple quantities
Enable this setting to let customers add more than one unit of an offered product.
Leave it disabled when each offered product should be added only once through the upsell widget.
4.3. Don’t show products that are already in the cart
Enable this setting to hide an offered product when the same product is already present in the customer’s cart.
This avoids displaying duplicate recommendations and keeps the offer relevant to the customer’s current order.
4.4. Randomize offer product order
Enable this setting to display offer products in a different order instead of always following the original selection order.
This can give multiple products more balanced visibility when a campaign contains several recommendations.
4.5. Limit offered products shown
Enable this setting to restrict how many offer products are displayed in the widget at one time.
Use it when the campaign contains many products but you want to keep the cart experience focused and easy to browse.
4.6. Paginate products
Enable pagination to divide offered products into multiple pages or groups within the widget. In short, it limits how many products are shown to the customers at one time, in one widget frame.
This option is useful when the campaign includes more products than can comfortably fit in the available cart space.
