Reward Customers with Discount Codes
Set up the Promo Code question — on-screen or email-gated — step by step.
Why offer a reward?
A small discount dramatically lifts completion rates — especially for exit-intent and abandoned-checkout surveys, where the discount doubles as a save offer. Ego Surveys delivers rewards through the Promo Code question type, usually placed as the final step of the survey.
Setting it up
- Create the discount first in your Shopify admin (Discounts → Create discount) — e.g. code
THANKS10for 10% off. The app displays the code; Shopify enforces it, so set usage limits there if needed (one per customer, minimum spend, expiry). - In the survey builder, add a Promo Code question (under Pages), typically after the last real question.
- Enter the discount code. Customers see it in a copyable box with a Copy button.
- Optionally add a button with custom text to continue or close the survey.
Email-gated delivery
Turn on the Send email toggle to trade the reward for an email address: the customer enters their email and clicks Get coupon to receive the code. Enable Limit discount per email so the same address can't claim repeatedly.
Email-gating converts the survey into a list-building machine — you collect feedback and a contact in one interaction. Show the code on screen instead when friction matters more than the list (e.g. exit intent).
Announce the reward up front
On earlier questions, enable Show discount summary so customers see from the start that a reward waits at the end — completion rates rise when the payoff is visible before question one.
