How to Manage App Settings
App Settings lets you manage general behaviors that affect how customers discover products, receive notification reminders, and access your mobile app.
Overview
App Settings lets you manage general behaviors that affect how customers discover products, receive notification reminders, and access your mobile app.
From this page, you can:
Decide whether sold-out products appear in app search results.
Encourage users who have not enabled push notifications to opt in.
Temporarily make the mobile app unavailable during maintenance.

How to access App Settings
From your Shopify Admin, open Ego Mobile Builder.
Go to Settings.

Select App Settings.
Enable or configure the setting you want to use.
Show sold-out items in search results
What this setting does
Show sold-out items in search results controls whether unavailable products appear when customers search inside your mobile app.
When enabled, sold-out products remain visible in search results.
When disabled, sold-out products are removed from app search results.
This setting does not restore inventory or allow customers to purchase an unavailable product.
When should you enable it?
Enable this setting when you want customers to:
Discover your complete product range.
View product information even when an item is unavailable.
Return later when a product is restocked.
Find products that may support back-in-stock or restock campaigns.
This option may be useful for stores with popular products that frequently return to stock.
When should you disable it?
Disable this setting when you want to:
Keep search results focused on products that customers can purchase immediately.
Reduce frustration caused by unavailable products.
Improve product discovery for stores with many discontinued or long-term sold-out items.
How to configure it
Go to Settings → App Settings.
Find Show sold-out items in search results.
Turn on the toggle to display sold-out products.
Turn off the toggle to hide sold-out products.
Save your changes if a Save button is displayed.

What customers will see
When enabled, sold-out products may appear alongside available products in search results.
The product remains unavailable for purchase and should display the appropriate sold-out status inside the app.
Scope note: This setting only affects search results. It does not change product visibility in collections, product recommendations, or other app sections unless those areas have separate settings.
Re-engage users to enable push notification
What this setting does
Re-engage users to enable push notification reminds eligible app users to allow push notifications.
When enabled, the app may display a permission reminder to users who have not allowed notifications.
Users who have already enabled push notifications should not be asked to opt in again.
Why push notification permission matters
Customers must allow push notifications before they can receive messages such as:
Product and collection announcements
App-only promotions
Flash Sale reminders
Back-in-stock updates
Abandoned cart reminders
Order-related or engagement messages supported by your setup
Enabling this setting can help increase the number of customers who are eligible to receive your campaigns.
When should you enable it?
Enable the setting when:
You regularly send push notification campaigns.
Many app users have not granted notification permission.
You want to improve campaign reach.
You have a clear reason for customers to enable notifications.
Avoid repeatedly prompting users without explaining the value they receive.
How to configure it
Go to Settings → App Settings.
Find Re-engage users to enable push notification.
Turn on the toggle.
Save your changes if required.

What customers will see
Eligible users may see a prompt encouraging them to allow notifications.
The final system permission message may vary between iOS and Android.
Users can still decline the request. Enabling this setting does not automatically grant notification permission.
Platform note: Notification permissions are controlled by the customer’s device and operating system. Ego Mobile Builder cannot enable them without the customer’s approval.
Inactive Mode
What is Inactive Mode?
Inactive Mode temporarily makes your mobile app unavailable to customers.
When enabled, customers see a custom inactive screen instead of the normal shopping experience.
While the app is inactive, customers cannot:
Browse products.
Search the catalog.
Add products to the cart.
Access the normal shopping flow.
Complete checkout through the mobile app.
When should you use Inactive Mode?
Use Inactive Mode when:
The mobile app is undergoing maintenance.
You are resolving a critical issue.
You are preparing a major app update.
Important product, pricing, or checkout data is temporarily unavailable.
You need to prevent customers from using the app for a limited period.
Do not use Inactive Mode for normal design edits or minor content updates if the app can remain available safely.
Warning: Enabling Inactive Mode prevents customers from shopping in the mobile app and may reduce app revenue. Use it only when necessary.
Configure the inactive screen
Go to Settings → App Settings.
Select Inactive Mode.
Upload an image for the inactive screen.
Enter a title.
Add a description explaining why the app is unavailable.
Review the screen in the mobile preview.
Save your changes.
Enable Inactive Mode when you are ready to make the app unavailable.

Turn off Inactive Mode
After maintenance is complete:
Return to Settings → App Settings → Inactive Mode.
Turn off Inactive Mode.
Save your changes.
Close and reopen the mobile app.
Confirm that customers can browse products, add items to the cart, and check out normally.
Important: Inactive Mode does not turn off automatically. Remember to disable it after maintenance.
Troubleshooting
Show sold-out items in search results
If sold-out products do not display as expected, save the setting, refresh the app, and confirm the products are active and correctly marked as sold out.
Re-engage users to enable push notification
If the prompt does not appear, test with a user who has not enabled notifications and confirm notifications are not blocked in the device settings.
Inactive Mode
If the inactive screen does not update correctly, save the settings and reopen the app. After maintenance, remember to turn off Inactive Mode and save again.
Important notes
Showing a sold-out product does not make it available for purchase.
Notification permission always requires customer approval.
Device-level notification settings may override the app prompt.
Inactive Mode prevents customers from using the normal mobile shopping experience.
Inactive Mode must be turned off manually after maintenance.
Always verify customer-facing settings after saving.
Avoid activating Inactive Mode during active campaigns unless campaign links and messaging have also been updated.
