How to set up multi-language for your mobile app
Overview
Ego Mobile Builder supports multi-language setup to help you provide a localized mobile app experience for customers in different regions.
After multi-language is activated, you can add the languages you want to support, translate app content for each component, and publish the translated version to your mobile app.
To make the translation process faster, Ego Mobile Builder also supports AI translation. Instead of manually translating every text field from scratch, you can use AI to generate translations for supported content, then review and adjust the result before publishing.
This feature is useful if your store serves customers from multiple countries or if you want your mobile app content to match different customer languages.
Before you start
Before setting up multi-language, make sure Ego Mobile Builder is installed on your Shopify store.
You should already have an app design created in App Design.
You should also prepare the languages you want to support. Although Ego Mobile Builder can help generate translations with AI, we still recommend reviewing the translated content to make sure it is accurate, natural, and suitable for your brand voice.
Some content may come from Shopify products, collections, or third-party integrations. If the content is managed outside Ego Mobile Builder, you may need to manage its translation from the original source.
Step 1: Activate Multi-language
From your Shopify Admin, open Ego Mobile Builder.
Go to the Settings area and find Multi-language.
Turn on Multi-language to enable language support for your mobile app.

After multi-language is activated, you can go to the App Editor to add and manage language content for your app design.
Step 2: Go to App Design
In Ego Mobile Builder, open App Design.
Choose the app design you want to configure multi-language for.
Click Edit Theme to open the App Editor.

The App Editor is where you manage your mobile app layout, components, and translated content for each language.
Step 3: Open Multi-language settings in App Editor
Inside the App Editor, open the Multi-language setting.

This area allows you to manage the languages available for your mobile app design.
From here, you can review the current language setup, add more languages, and switch between languages to update translated content.
Step 4: Add additional languages
Click Add language and select the language you want to add to your mobile app.

After the language is added, it will appear in the language list inside the App Editor.
You can add multiple languages if your app needs to support customers from different regions.
If your setup includes a default language option, choose the main language that should be used as the default experience for your mobile app.
Step 5: Translate content with AI support
After adding a language, select that language in the App Editor.
Go through each component in your app design and update the translated content for that language.
Ego Mobile Builder supports AI translation to help you translate supported text fields faster. You can use AI to generate translations for component content, such as banners, headings, descriptions, button labels, promotional messages, custom sections, and other editable text inside the App Editor.

After AI generates the translation, review the result carefully before saving. You can edit the AI-generated translation to make sure the wording matches your brand tone, product context, and customer expectations.
This helps reduce manual translation work while still giving you full control over the final content shown in your mobile app.
Repeat this process for each language you add.
Step 6: Review translated content for each component
After translating your components, review the selected language version inside the App Editor.
Make sure all customer-facing content has been translated, including banners, section titles, descriptions, button labels, promotional text, navigation labels, and other text displayed in your mobile app.
For the best result, check each component carefully instead of only translating the main homepage content. This helps avoid mixed-language experiences where some parts of the app are translated while other parts still show the default language.
You should also check whether the translated text fits the mobile layout. Some languages may require longer wording, so you may need to shorten the text or adjust the component layout to keep the app clean and easy to read.
Step 7: Save and publish the language updates
After finishing the translation, click Save to save your changes.
Then click Publish to publish the language updates to your mobile app.

The translated content will be applied to the selected app design after publishing.
Step 8: Activate the language in Shopify and assign a domain
After publishing the translated content from Ego Mobile Builder, you also need to activate the language in Shopify so customers can access it.
In your Shopify Admin, go to Settings → Languages.
Find the language you want to use and click Publish if it has not been published yet.
If you use multiple domains or subfolders for different languages, go to Settings → Domains.
Assign the published language to the appropriate domain or language path according to your store configuration.
Save your changes.
Publishing translations in Ego Mobile Builder only makes the translated content available inside your mobile app design. The language must also be published in Shopify before customers can use it.
Step 9: Preview your mobile app
After publishing the language updates, open Preview to check the result on your mobile app.
Switch between languages and review important screens, including homepage, product sections, collection sections, banners, navigation, and custom components.
Make sure each language version displays correctly before sharing the app with customers or publishing app updates.
Important notes
AI translation helps you generate translated content faster, but the final content should still be reviewed before publishing.
Multi-language setup in Ego Mobile Builder applies to the content configured inside the App Editor.
Content that comes directly from Shopify, such as product names, product descriptions, collection names, or other Shopify-managed data, may need to be translated from Shopify or another translation source.
Content from third-party integrations may depend on how that integration manages languages.
If a component still shows the default language, open the App Editor, switch to the target language, and check whether that component has translated content.
If your app is already live, preview the translated version carefully before publishing updates.
If a language has been translated and published in Ego Mobile Builder but is not yet published in Shopify, customers will not be able to access that language. Make sure each language is published in Shopify and, if applicable, assigned to the correct domain or language path before making it available to customers.
Troubleshooting
If you cannot find Multi-language in the App Editor, make sure Multi-language has been activated in the Settings area first.
If a language does not appear after being added, refresh the App Editor and check the language list again.
If the translated content has been published from Ego Mobile Builder but the language is still unavailable, check the following:
Make sure the language has been published in Shopify → Settings → Languages.
Verify that the language is assigned to the correct domain or language path in Shopify → Settings → Domains.
Refresh the mobile app or preview again after updating the Shopify language settings.
If some text is still displayed in the default language, that component may not have translated content yet. Switch to the target language and update the text for that component.
If AI translation does not generate the expected wording, edit the translated text manually before saving.
If the translated text does not fit well on mobile, shorten the wording or adjust the component layout.
If the language update does not appear in preview, save the changes again, publish the language update, then refresh or reopen the preview app.
