How to Manage Cart & Checkout Settings
The Cart & Checkout settings help you control how customers move from product selection to order completion in your mobile app.
Overview
The Cart & Checkout settings help you control how customers move from product selection to order completion in your mobile app.
You can use these settings to:
Require a phone number during checkout.
Send customers directly to checkout after adding a product.
Display a promotional banner on the cart page.
Remind customers about abandoned carts or checkouts.
Support eligible subscription products in the app checkout flow.

Before you begin
Cart and checkout settings directly affect the customer purchase journey.
Before enabling a setting:
Review whether your store uses cart upsells, free gifts, add-ons, discounts, or cart notes.
Confirm that related Shopify settings and campaigns are already configured.
Test the complete purchase flow after saving.
Check the experience on both iOS and Android where possible.
Avoid changing multiple checkout settings at the same time without testing each one.
Important: Some settings may shorten or change the purchase journey. Always verify that customers can still access the promotions and information you want them to see.
How to access Cart & Checkout settings
From your Shopify Admin, open Ego Mobile Builder.
Go to Settings.
Select Cart & Checkout.
Enable or configure the setting you want to use.

Require phone number at checkout
What this setting does
Require phone number at checkout asks customers to provide a phone number before completing their order.
When should you enable it?
Enable this setting when phone numbers are required for your store’s fulfillment or communication process.
It may be especially useful for stores that:
Use local delivery.
Need couriers to contact customers.
Sell high-value or customized products.
Require phone verification for order processing.
How to enable it
Go to Settings → Cart & Checkout.
Find Require phone number at checkout.
Turn on the toggle.
Save your changes if required.
Complete a test checkout.

Recommended practice
Only require a phone number when it is operationally necessary. Additional required fields may increase checkout friction.
Fast Checkout
What this setting does
Fast Checkout sends customers directly to checkout after they add a product to the cart.
This reduces the number of steps between product selection and payment.
When should you enable it?
Enable Fast Checkout when:
Most customers purchase one product at a time.
Your store has a simple purchase flow.
You want to reduce the time required to reach checkout.
Cart-page promotions are not essential to your sales strategy.
When should you avoid it?
Use Fast Checkout carefully if your cart page includes:
Cart upsells.
Free gift offers.
Add-ons.
Cart banners.
Discount fields.
Order notes.
Trust badges.
Shipping or reward progress bars.
Customers may reach checkout before viewing or interacting with these features.
How to enable it
Go to Settings → Cart & Checkout.
Find Fast Checkout.
Turn on the toggle.
Save your changes if required.
Add a product from the mobile app and test the flow.

What customers will experience
When enabled, customers are redirected to checkout immediately after adding an item.
When disabled, customers can continue browsing or open the cart before checkout.
Recommended practice
Compare conversion rate, Average Order Value, and cart offer performance before and after enabling Fast Checkout.
Warning: Fast Checkout may reduce exposure to cart-based promotions and may lower Average Order Value for stores that rely on upselling.
Cart Banner
What is Cart Banner?
Cart Banner displays a clickable promotional image at the top of the cart page.
You can use it to highlight:
Sales and discounts.
Free shipping campaigns.
Seasonal collections.
App-only promotions.
New product launches.
Important store announcements.
When should you use it?
Use Cart Banner when you want to show customers a relevant message while they review their cart.
The banner works best when it supports the current purchase journey, such as:
Promoting a collection related to the cart.
Showing a limited-time offer.
Directing customers to products that qualify for free shipping.
Highlighting a campaign before checkout.
Configure the banner image
Go to Settings → Cart & Checkout.
Open Cart Banner.
Upload the banner image.
Review the image in the mobile preview.

Abandoned checkout recovery
What this setting does
Abandoned checkout recovery reminds customers who started checkout but did not complete their order.
These customers have already shown strong purchase intent by entering the checkout flow.
When should you enable it?
Enable this setting when you want to:
Recover incomplete checkouts.
Remind customers about an unfinished purchase.
Reduce checkout drop-off.
Bring high-intent customers back to complete payment.
How to enable it
Go to Settings → Cart & Checkout.
Find Abandoned checkout recovery.
Turn on the toggle.
Save your changes if required.

What customers will experience
Eligible customers may receive a reminder encouraging them to return and complete checkout.
Recover abandoned cart
What this setting does
Recover abandoned cart reminds customers about products left in their cart before they start checkout.
When should you enable it?
Enable this setting when you want to:
Bring customers back to unfinished carts.
Remind customers about products they previously selected.
Increase the chance that customers continue to checkout.
Recover shopping sessions that ended before purchase.
How to enable it
Go to Settings → Cart & Checkout.
Find Recover abandoned cart.
Turn on the toggle.
Save your changes if required.

What customers will experience
Eligible customers may receive a reminder about the products left in their cart.
Enable subscriptions checkout
What this setting does
Enable subscriptions checkout allows eligible subscription products and recurring purchase options to work in the mobile app checkout flow.
This may support use cases such as:
Recurring product deliveries.
Product replenishment.
Memberships.
Subscribe-and-save offers.
Repeat purchase plans.
Before enabling it
Confirm that:
Subscription products are already configured in Shopify.
Your subscription app or selling plan is active.
Products are available to the mobile app sales channel.
The subscription checkout flow has been tested.
Pricing, billing frequency, and customer terms are correct.
How to enable it
Go to Settings → Cart & Checkout.
Find Enable subscriptions checkout.
Turn on the toggle.
Save your changes if required.
Test an eligible subscription product in the app.

What customers will experience
Customers can select and purchase supported subscription options through the mobile app checkout flow.
Troubleshooting
Require phone number at checkout
If the phone number is not required, confirm the setting is enabled and review the related Shopify Checkout configuration.
Fast Checkout
If customers skip the cart unexpectedly, turn off Fast Checkout and test the add-to-cart flow again.
Cart Banner
If the banner does not appear or opens the wrong page, check that it is enabled, saved, and linked to the correct destination.
Recovery reminders
If reminders are not sent, confirm the correct recovery setting is enabled and that the customer meets its eligibility conditions.
Subscription checkout
If subscription checkout does not work, confirm that the subscription product, selling plan, and Shopify subscription setup are active.
Important notes
Fast Checkout may cause customers to skip cart-based promotions.
Cart Banner does not create a promotion or discount.
Abandoned cart and abandoned checkout recovery target different customer stages.
Recovery notifications depend on customer eligibility and notification permissions.
Subscription checkout requires an existing and valid Shopify subscription setup.
Always test the complete cart and checkout flow after changing a setting.
Confirm whether settings take effect immediately or require an app publish before documenting the final process.
